About Me:
My name is Shehreen and I am a private psychologist who aims to advocate for children and young people with additional needs. In my career, I have witnessed an increase in academic pressures, changes in social expectations and inconsistent inclusion approaches across schools. Social media has also influenced the mental health of young people today which has drastically evolved in the last 5-10 years. I have also been working alongside local authorities to support Emotional Based Non-Attendance, which has significantly increased since the COVID Pandemic.
My special interest is trauma and attachment, and hope to support families and schools more in this area, including delivering trainings, working directly with children and young people who have experienced trauma and contribute towards EHCP assessments.
I believe that due to the combination of school driven pressures, social media and the recent pandemic, our children and young people of today are struggling more than ever and need support from external professionals. I aim to use a holistic approach in my process that involves collaboration and consultation with the school and parents , as well as gaining the pupil’s voice and if necessary, administration of appropriate assessments and information gathering tools.
I am passionate about psychology and intervention and maintain a person-centred approach when offering support and advice, whilst remaining ethically bound and professional.
My academic background includes a Masters of Art in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas San Antonio. I have been practicing in the UK for over 7 years and maintain excellent working relationships across local authorities and other professionals.

Education happens within the context of a larger community. Our approach extends beyond the school to help ensure students have the necessary support to do their best learning. My goal is to ensure the school and family are involved throughout the process to help with planning and intervention as they know the child best.
